Getting ready for the new year

The end of term is only a matter of days away, so what better time than now to start preparing for the new school year. It is also a good chance to reflect on the lessons of the past year and determine what could be done better or different and what needs to change.

The thing that sticks out for me the most at this time is the need to make my lessons more communication based than before. I try to get the students to talk as much as possible but I feel that I have talked too much in recent lessons. The students need to be speaking more, something I need to pay a lot more attention to next year.

I have used a stamp card this year but no one has managed to collect a full card of stamps. I have endeavored to give stamps for ever answer, volunteer and as a reward for games etc but many students just don't come and collect......
I have slightly adjusted the design by reducing the overall number of spaces and dividing by term. Hopefully a slightly more attainable goal will encourage the students to participate more.
